Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Marketing Communications Specialist based in the United States. This is an exciting opportunity for a marketing professional to lead multichannel communications for a growing cannabis business operating across several U.S. markets. You will manage the day to day execution and optimization of email , SMS, and social media campaigns, engaging both retail customers and wholesale partners. The role combines creative communication, audience segmentation, campaign analytics, and regulatory awareness to deliver relevant, effective, and compliant marketing experiences. You will use performance data and customer behavior insights to refine messaging, improve engagement, and drive measurable business results. Working closely with creative, wholesale, and marketing teams, you will coordinate content production, support product launches, and strengthen brand relationships. You will also manage vendor relationships, monitor online communities, and lead cross-functional initiatives that support broader marketing objectives. This remote opportunity is ideal for an organized, proactive communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing creative execution with data-driven decision-making.

Accountabilities
  • Email and SMS Campaign Management: Plan, build, quality-check, and deploy scheduled email and SMS campaigns for business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) audiences. Manage loyalty program communications, including points-earning opportunities, rewards, member-exclusive campaigns, promotions, and targeted messaging.
  • Audience Segmentation and List Management: Develop and refine audience segments based on customer behavior, campaign objectives, and business priorities. Maintain accurate contact lists, opt-in and opt-out records, and segmentation hygiene in accordance with applicable state regulations, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), carrier requirements, and platform policies.
  • Campaign Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough pre-deployment checks of links, personalization, content, compliance language, unsubscribe instructions, and send schedules. Monitor campaign errors, resolve issues before publication, and improve quality assurance processes to minimize delivery defects.
  • Campaign Testing and Optimization: Design and execute tests across subject lines, messaging, content formats, audience segments, and send times. Analyze results independently and apply findings to improve engagement, click-through rates, conversions, loyalty redemptions, deliverability, and overall campaign effectiveness.
  • Social Media Strategy and Execution: Develop and maintain social media content strategies and publishing calendars. Recommend content formats, channel priorities, posting schedules, and engagement approaches based on business objectives, audience behavior, platform trends, and performance insights.
  • Community Management: Monitor social media comments and direct messages, respond in accordance with brand guidelines, and maintain appropriate response times. Identify customer service concerns and potential compliance issues, escalating them to the relevant teams when necessary.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Review email, SMS, and social media communications for alignment with established cannabis advertising requirements, state-specific regulations, and platform policies. Identify potential risks, implement corrective actions within established guidelines, and elevate new or significant compliance concerns appropriately.
  • Creative and Content Coordination: Partner with Creative Services to develop and deliver campaign assets and copy within production deadlines. Collaborate with Brand Ambassadors to capture content from field activities and events, ensuring that materials align with brand standards and marketing objectives.
  • Wholesale and Partner Communications: Develop and distribute communications for third-party partners, including new product announcements, promotional campaigns, sales enablement materials, and co-branded initiatives. Coordinate with the Wholesale team to ensure messaging supports commercial priorities and partner engagement.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Manage assigned marketing vendors, evaluate service quality and performance, resolve operational issues, and recommend adjustments to vendor relationships, services, or spending based on business requirements and results.
  • Performance Reporting and Analysis: Analyze weekly and monthly performance across email, SMS, and social media channels. Track open rates, click-through rates, engagement, redemption, audience growth, deliverability, publishing timeliness, and quality assurance metrics. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and implement actionable improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as a subject-matter resource for marketing communications, channel strategy, segmentation, campaign performance, and best practices. Lead assigned cross-functional initiatives and recommend communication strategies that contribute to broader marketing and business goals.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain a reliable publishing cadence across channels, meet content calendar deadlines, minimize quality assurance defects, and consistently monitor social media response times and monthly performance indicators.
Requirements
