Come join our team in the role of Marketing Communications Manager! Manage marketing communication efforts directed at Pioneer Sales Representatives in the U.S., including evaluating and enhancing effective communication strategies to keep the Pioneer field sales team up to date on marketing efforts. Collaborate with the Pioneer Sales Effectiveness Manager on Pioneer Sales Rep programming, including recruitment and co‑branded opportunities through the Rep Rewards program.

Lead all facets of marketing communications for Pioneer brand varietal wheat, sunflower and sorghum product portfolios in the U.S. Work collaboratively and as an integral part of the Pioneer marketing team to develop and implement strategy and tactical execution of timely and effective communications directed to farmers, industry partners, Pioneer sales representatives and field sales employees.

Serve as the strategic lead for all agronomy communications including promoting and enhancing the Pioneer agronomy brand, including Agronomy Innovation solutions. Provide oversite of Pioneer media briefs and coordinate agronomy speakers for media opportunities in collaboration with agency partners. Additionally, identify opportunities for agronomy content and communication integration opportunities across all marketing communications initiatives and look for ways to enhance the delivery of agronomy content.

What You’ll Do
Planning and strategic development of marketing communications initiatives
  • Align product marketing plans and strategies to messaging, positioning and planning processes for the development and implementation of paid media advertising and marketing communication initiatives as it relates to respective portfolios.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to internal and external resources in the development and implementation of creative marketing communications plans and activities, with the input of product marketing managers.
  • Work closely with advertising agency partners, Vylor Integrated Communications and Creative Services teams to develop marketing communications plans and implement in a timely manner.
  • Maintain dynamic regionally relevant and timely messaging.
  • Collaborate with broader Pioneer marketing communications team to include complementary product solutions when appropriate.
  • Work with industry stakeholder groups on promoting the annual National Sorghum Producers yield content, and lead communications to promote winners with Pioneer products.
  • Evaluate creative concepts based upon strategic understanding of objectives and opportunities to align with the annual Pioneer portfolio marketing plans.
  • Evaluate and utilize all channels and media outlets to deliver messages most effectively and efficiently depending on target audience.
Deploy integrated marketing communications plans
  • Lead the execution of targeted digital communications, working with Vylor integrated communications to deploy data-driven communications. Leverage e-platforms and digital interactivity to deliver communications for respective portfolios. Tools include: Pioneer.com, email, ag-related web sites, SEO, SMS, etc.
  • Collaborate with Public Relations team members and agency to maximize earned media opportunities. Consider media relations tactics as part of the overall marketing communications plan.
  • Create literature and other sales support materials that deliver consistent messaging supporting Pioneer portfolios within responsibility.
  • Oversee the development of sales support collateral materials or other customer-facing elements that are utilized at the field-sales level.
  • Collaborate with Pioneer sales agency and marketing agency partners on co-branded programming for localized marketing tactics.
Lead agronomy communications strategic thinking and identify opportunities for enhanced agronomy content inclusion and deployment.
  • Lead the Pioneer agronomy brand promotional initiatives. Consider opportunities to build more Rep and Grower awareness of the value of Pioneer agronomy as a differentiator.
  • Oversee agronomy communication initiatives such as the Agronomy Digital Studios, Pioneer Media Briefs, and Walking Your Fields newsletter. Consider other agronomy assets that can be utilized to provide timely and effective agronomy content information to growers and field teams.
  • Collaborate with other product line communications managers and enhance the integration of agronomy messaging into product messages and initiatives.
  • Engage with Agronomy Innovations team and agronomy field teams as needed to identify agronomy promotion and communication ideas.
Budget and Resource Management
  • Oversee an annual marketing communications budget and be able to manage internal and external resources (people and dollars) to efficiently and effectively execute marketing communications campaigns.
DECISION MAKING

Ensure that written and verbal communications follow legal guidelines, third party agreement requirements, company advertising standards, marketing philosophies and product marketing guidelines.

What You’ll Need
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in the field of marketing, advertising, public relations, or agriculture communications.

Experience

Eight or more years with Pioneer, a communications agency or other transferrable professional experience, performing similar work with an emphasis on excellent writing skills, media planning, message development and strategic planning.

Additional Knowledge, Abilities And Skills Required By This Position
  • Strong writing skills with experience writing for an agricultural audience.
  • Knowledge of production agriculture, agronomy and/or overall crop management.
  • Experience in working on integrated, multi-faceted communications campaigns using a variety of delivery platforms, including traditional media advertising and digital communications tools.
  • Ability to make sound, thoughtful judgments on the effectiveness, efficiency and impact of communications alternatives.
  • Is a team player yet can think and work independently – see initiatives through from plan development to execution.
