Job Title: Marketing and Communications Support StaffStatus: Full-TimeReports to: Outreach and Marketing DirectorPOSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the mission of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The role plays a vital part in increasing awareness and understanding of the YMCA’s purpose and positive impact within the community.We are seeking a skilled and organized communications professional to help drive the YMCA’s mission through the development and execution of clear, engaging messaging. The ideal candidate will be proficient in social media management, experienced in video production and photography, and knowledgeable in digital marketing and graphic design.Candidates should be comfortable using Microsoft Windows programs, including the Microsoft Office suite, and have experience with Adobe Creative Suite. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger, beginning with you.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Assist in planning and coordinating annual events and member engagement events.Support staff and volunteers with community presentations, meetings, and events.Maintains excellent administrative and back-office systems.Supports efforts to gather stories of impact to share across multiple mediums.Support YMCA branding and the creation of annual marketing initiatives.Coordinates Y-Gear sales and inventory for the Annual Campaign.Supports Outreach and Marketing Director with all volunteer inquiries, volunteer database, and recognition to engage volunteers regarding the Annual Campaign.Help produce and distribute marketing and communications for the organization.Manage all digital marketing efforts, including photography and video production. Photography for use in print and digital marketing materials, including special events, program activities, headshots, etc.Ensure all marketing and communications information is updated throughout the facility.Support the management of all YMCA social media platforms, including creating a social media content calendar, handling customer interactions (responding to posts/messages), maintaining regular posts/content, and forwarding any issues to the appropriate Director in a timely manner.Update events, schedules, push notifications, and communicate any requests/issues.Website Content: Assist in the development of the YMCA’s new website while maintaining current website content. Responsibilities include creating new webpages and event listings, ensuring all content is accurate, up to date, and aligned with brand standards. Ensure that all text, images, and interactive elements are professional, engaging, and effectively communicate the YMCA’s programs and services.Assist departments in creating marketing materials to ensure brand compliance, as needed.Email Marketing: Coordinate email-marketing efforts for the YMCA.Create, review, and execute weekly/monthly e-newsletters.Create appropriate email lists for e-newsletters as needed.Capture photos and testimonials that feature programming to be used for marketing.Other duties as assigned YMCA COMPETENCIES (Team Leader):Communication and Influence: Writes clearly and concisely, using correct grammar, vocabulary, and an appropriate tone for the message or audience. Actively supports and remains accessible to others during times of change or stress. Manage resistance to change by seeking input from stakeholders and communicating the change. Holds others accountable for implementing the change.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or equivalent preferred.Adobe Creative Suite and/or Microsoft Office experience required.One or two years of related experience is preferred as a coordinator of activities or events.The ideal candidate is a natural communicator, articulate both in person and on paper. He/she will be meticulous about details and overseeing projects from concept to completion.Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.IT (Information Technology) and video production experience preferred.Ability to relate effectively and compassionately to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.Ability to interact in a friendly, enthusiastic, energetic, and outgoing manner with members and those interested in the Y at events, etc.Ability to learn Constant Contact and Marq.Strong project management skills: ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines.Strong communicational and organizational skills.Ability to generate and implement creative skills.Must have excellent interpersonal, public relations and communication skills, including the ability to make presentations.Valid NC Driver’s License.Preferred Adult & Infant CPR and Basic First Aid Certification.Certifications required within 30 days of hire: American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid; the following training provided by the Y: Preventing Child Sexual Abuse, Bloodborne Pathogen Training, Hazard Communication Standard, New Employee Safety Orientation, Substance Abuse – What Employees Need to Know, What is Safety Culture?
