We’re looking for a creative and organised Marketing and Communications Officer to join our Marketing and Fundraising Team at Newcastle Carers. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to use their marketing and communications skills to make a genuine difference to the lives of unpaid carers across Newcastle. You’ll play an important role in raising the profile of Newcastle Carers, increasing awareness of caring, promoting our services, projects and fundraising activities, and sharing the difference our work makes.

Why work at Newcastle Carers?

We support adults, children and young people who care for someone living in Newcastle upon Tyne. Our services are free, confidential and non-judgemental, helping carers find ways to make their caring situation more manageable. We believe every carer should be able to access professional support, information and guidance. We also believe that children and young people with caring responsibilities (some of whom are of primary school age), deserve the same opportunities as their peers. For more information about our charity and the vital work we do, please browse our website.

Our vision is to improve the quality of life for carers of all ages and help them overcome the challenges they face.

Working at Newcastle Carers is more than just a job. We are a team of passionate people dedicated to supporting carers of all ages. Our values incorporate every aspect of our work: Empowering, Inclusive, People-Focused, and Empathetic. We know that by working together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of carers across the city.

A Bit About The Role

This is a broad and varied role, so no two days are likely to be the same. You’ll work across marketing, communications, content creation and fundraising, reaching a range of audiences through different channels. One day you could be developing a campaign to raise awareness of caring, and the next creating a short video, bringing a carer’s story to life, promoting one of our services or supporting a fundraising campaign. You’ll create engaging content for our website, social media, email and other channels, using your skills to help more people discover Newcastle Carers and the support we offer. You’ll also work closely with colleagues across the organisation to identify and share the stories, activities and impact of our work. It’s a role with plenty of variety and scope to bring your ideas and creativity to life, while working as part of a small, supportive team where your work can make a real difference.

About You

We’re looking for someone creative, organised and confident in using marketing and communications to engage people.

You’ll have experience of creating content across different channels, with a good understanding of digital marketing, social media and email marketing. You’ll also be comfortable working with websites and creating engaging written, visual and video content. You’ll be someone who can manage a varied workload, work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues across the organisation. You’ll be able to turn ideas into engaging content for a range of audiences and use different channels and creative approaches to promote Newcastle Carers and showcase the impact of our work.

Don’t meet every single requirement of this role?

If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t quite match perfectly with the job description and person specification, we’d still love to hear from you! You might just be the perfect person we’re looking for, or we may have another role within Newcastle Carers.

We offer our employees a range of benefits and support

You will work as part of a supportive and committed team, striving to make a difference in the lives of carers. We are dedicated to addressing the health issues of our staff and have been awarded the ‘Better Health at Work Award Maintaining Excellence’ Award. We are also committed to promoting the wellbeing of our staff through the Mindful Employer Charter Plus.

In Addition, We Can Offer You
  • An inclusive and values-based environment
  • Flexible working from day one – a truly flexible working culture
  • TOIL (Time Off In Lieu)
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • A generous holiday entitlement and special leave
  • Training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to work as part of a team of passionate people with a great sense of humour!
  • Free tea and coffee, with occasional cakes and chocolates (and healthy snacks, of course!)

Closing date: Monday 28 September, 5pm

Interview dates: Monday 5 and Thursday 8 October
