Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic storytelling across channels including websites, social media and digital assets, utilizing a variety of mediums including videography, photography, print design, electronic newsletters, and other formats in support of university, the Division of Student Life, and Recreational Sports; ensure all are in-line with appropriate targets, timelines, policies and techniques
  • Create and edit written communications, collaborating with Division of Student Life Marketing & Strategic Communications as required
  • Plan and create original graphic designs: pictures, drawing, graphic materials using computer and other media for use in marketing campaigns and facility needs
  • Ensure all materials, art, or work produced follow proper brand standards and brand consistency
  • Maintain the departmental website, updating content and design as needed
  • Assist with creating communications for high-level stakeholders
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with departmental and University policies, guidelines, and other relevant regulations
  • Coordinate efforts to support event coverage with Division of Student Life Marketing & Strategic Communications including videography, photography, social media, etc.; attending events as needed
  • Recommend, maintain, disseminate, and enforce policies, procedures, and guidelines for areas of responsibility
  • Gather information, analyze data, and compile reports to maximize effectiveness, efficiencies, strategies, and inform management decisions and/or department goals; Manage and utilize online content and marketing analytics

Program Management & Administration
  • Determine workflow for project requests
  • Set appropriate timelines, ensuring communication about project progress follow-up/follow-through on completion of projects
  • Confer with clients to discuss and determine layout design and goals for communication pieces; Identify and communicate on complex project issues.
  • Manage market-related archive files for the department including but not limited to media clippings, image files, design files, and back-up of all digital files.
  • Collaborate with the Division of Student Life Marketing & Strategic Communications in the implementation of policies and procedures relating to the marketing and communications processes and procedures
  • Prepare artwork files for printing and meeting vendor specifications
  • Responsible for purchasing various marketing materials (e.g. print materials, signage, environmental design materials) with third party vendors
Student Development
  • Recruit, train, supervise, coach, mentor and evaluate student and other part-time staff (approximately 50 student staff annually).
  • Plan and facilitate regular staff meetings and training sessions for each assigned area including awareness and compliance with all University policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the development of program training manuals and materials including safety and risk management practices to meet national standards and University policy.
  • In coordination with unit area team and the Student Development & Engagement Unit, create and implement a comprehensive student development program.
  • Communicate job responsibilities and expectations for student employees.
Financial & Other Duties as Assigned
  • Work in tandem with Director of Programs to develop the operational budget for assigned unit area.
  • Monitor budgets throughout the year and assist with quarterly reporting.
  • Maintain proper inventory records.
  • Serve as an active member of committees, work teams, and other global efforts within the Department of Recreational Sports and in Division of Student Life or University of Florida committees as needed
  • Prepare and manage bi-weekly payroll and wage schedules and reports.
  • Ensure Risk Management & Safety protocols are utilized appropriately within all assigned responsibilities.
  • Provide feedback to supervisor regarding the safety and/or condition of programs, equipment, and facilities; conduct daily observations and/or use said equipment and facilities; immediately document and address all safety concerns; and operate a state vehicle as needed.

  • Bachelor's in marketing, public relations/communications, graphic design, advertising or business marketing
  • Demonstrated experience in creating, managing and measuring marketing strategies, content creation and digital engagement.
  • Project management experience; ability to manage multiple projects and perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment with a fluctuating and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in managing printing processes and pre-press production requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in brand management
Skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Demonstrated experience with website creation and editing (WordPress)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in social media platforms
