Title:Marketing & Business Development Manager
Reports to:Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager
Position Charter:This front-line professional is responsible for creating and leading marketing and business development initiatives for our global Corporate and Real Estate practices, as well as other areas.
Essential Job Functions:
- Member of two-person front-line MBD team with primary responsibility for marketing and business development strategies and programs for Corporate and Real Estate practices.
- Build relationships and establish a network of liaisons across the firm to help organize and implement activities.
- Meet with Practice Heads, division/subgroup leaders, and attorneys in and out of assigned practices on a regular basis to strategize, prioritize, plan and execute on both broad and specific client support needs.
- Develop and pursue opportunities for leveraged/integrated service offerings and cross-selling.
- Work with Practice Heads to develop and manage MBD budgets.
- Work with other Practice, Client and Industry teams to foster business development efforts between practice groups and ancillary services, focusing on strategic marketing and client needs.
- Direct the gathering and production of information and materials for business development purposes, gain competitive information on competitors, including value proposition, service lines, firmwide strategy, marketing strategy etc.
- Work with attorneys to develop marketing and business development plans.
- Lead the production of successful RFP responses, in concert with Pitch/Proposal team.
- Effectively apply available technology tools in support of core functions.
- Coordinate with Media team to strengthen firm’s brand through media relations activities and sponsorship of local and regional events.
- Conduct research, independently and with research team, to prepare client, prospect and industry dossiers.
- Attend/participate in client meetings or other functions. Attend conferences and seminars with attorneys to stay current on changes within the relevant industries and developments in assigned practices and/or industries.
- Work with Duane Morris attorneys and marketing leadership to create, implement and support marketing programs; provide hands-on support and thought leadership for marketing programs.
- Proactively work as positive team member across department and other administrative departments, serving as mentor, training resource, and effective leader.
Qualifications & Characteristics:
The successful candidate will be a polished, detail-oriented, highly organized and responsive professional with a strong/proven track record of consultative sales experience, creating and implementing successful strategic growth programs for existing clients and new business targets - at the firm, practice, industry, team and individual attorney levels. Required:
- Strong relationship-development, communication, client service, coaching, team building, event production, proposal/content development and presentation skills experience are essential.
- Strong project management skills, ability to organize and motivate lawyers and team members to implement and manage effective marketing and business development efforts and a proven ability to build relationships at the executive level are also essential.
- Budgeting skills important.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and produce measurable results in a competitive environment.
- Interested in candidates with 8+ years’ of business development experience in a law firm and/or other professional services firm.
- Experience with one or more of the practice areas articulated above helpful.
- A sense of humor and humility would be nice.
- Moderate travel required.
Education:Bachelors’ degree required, JD and/or MBA desirable.
SALARY RANGE:$135,000-$200,000
Final starting salary is dependent on the candidate’s experience level, industry expertise, skills and other factors that are defined in the job description.
