Publix Super Markets is seeking a data science leader to develop and deploy advanced ML solutions that boost business performance and customer personalization. The role leverages large-scale data analysis to automate decision-making and improve engagement across channels.

The ideal candidate will drive pricing, merchandising, and promotional strategies using predictive modeling, data mining, and AI-driven insights, with a focus on cross-channel impact and enterprise integration.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related field.
• At least five years of analytics, computer science, marketing, finance, or similar analytics field work.
• At least three years’ experience writing SQL.
• At least five years’ experience with Python, R, or similar tools.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

This role is responsible for developing and deploying advanced data science and machine learning solutions that drive business performance, enhance customer personalization, and optimize pricing, merchandising, and promotional strategies. The position leverages large-scale data analysis, predictive modeling, and AI-driven systems to generate insights, automate decision-making, and improve customer engagement across channels.

Additional Responsibilities Include

• Developing and implementing scalable Data Science Analytical Solutions that rely on machine learning and artificial intelligence to automate and optimize key business processes and help improve efficiency and financial results
• Providing research-based consultation and recommendations regarding the personalization of customer interfaces with Publix
• Contributing to the design and measurement of customer personalization programs at the Marketing channel, omni-channel, product hierarchy, and store level
• Analyzing customer, transaction, and campaign data to identify trends and patterns in marketing campaign performance and/or customer behavior
• Building learning systems that monitor data flows and react to changes in customer preferences, network constraints, and business objectives
• Manipulate large datasets to discover and extract meaningful business information using data mining, statistics, and machine learning techniques
• Developing scalable, efficient processes for large scale data analyses, model development and model implementation
• Analyzing and troubleshooting highly complex systems for accuracy, performance improvement and integration with changes to other enterprise systems

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related quantitative field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
• At least five (5) years of analytics, computer science, marketing, finance, or similar analytics field work-related experience
• At least three (3) years’ experience writing SQL
• At least five (5) years’ experience writing R code, Python, Syntax or similar functionality within other statistical tools
• Advance knowledge in Microsoft Excel
• Basic knowledge using Data Management Platforms(DMPs)
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, data lakes and formats including text, image, sentiment and audio/video
• Expert knowledge of statistical software knowledge (i.e., SPSS, SAS) and business intelligence tools (i.e., SQL, Visual Basic, SQL Enterprise Manager)
• Intermediate knowledge of data visualization tools (i.e., Tableau or MicroStrategy Desktop) and Python Coding
• Ability to exhibit a natural curiosity when developing research
• Expert knowledge in creating ETL (extract, transform, load) process and knowledge of ETL best practices
• Basic working with large data sets and distributed computing tools like Spark

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in data science, computer science, statistics, neuroscience, engineering, mathematics, or physics
• Seven (7) or more years of relevant research related experience
• Data Science Certificate
• Expert knowledge of data visualization tools and Python Coding
• Intermediate knowledge using Data Management Platforms(DMPs)
• Basic knowledge in Alteryx and the Alteryx Server or similar Business Intelligence (BI) Tools

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
