Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications strategies that support growth goals.
  • Identify audiences, positioning, goals, and channels for marketing plans.
  • Create multi-channel campaigns across the consumer journey with consistent messaging.
  • Provide strategic direction for advertising and public communications across digital, print, video, and assets.
  • Gather consumer, market, and performance insights to inform strategies and optimize campaigns.
  • Write and edit content that communicates Heart and Vascular and Transplant Care Lines’ services and patient experience.
  • Showcase physicians, programs, research, and patient stories to boost visibility and reputation.
  • Plan and manage occasional community events.
  • Track budgets and resources for campaigns and projects.

Marketing & Communications Specialist
Job Summary

The Marketing & Communications Specialist supports thestrategic marketing and communications needs of the Heart andVascular Care Line and Transplant Care Line at University of UtahHealth. This position develops and executes integrated marketingand communications initiatives that support service-line growth,increase awareness of clinical services, strengthen physician andprogram visibility, and advance strategic priorities.This ideal candidate is a strategic marketer, strong writer,organized project manager, and creative thinker who can translatecomplex clinical information into compelling marketing andcommunications strategies and content. In addition, they need tothrive in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and communicationsstrategies that support strategic priorities and growth goals.
  • Identify target audiences, establish positioning, define goalsand objectives, and develop marketing plans using appropriatechannels.
  • Develop and execute multi-channel campaigns across the consumerjourney, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment withUniversity of Utah Health brand standards.
  • Provide strategic direction for advertising and public-facingcommunications, including digital, print, video, and other creativeassets.
  • Gather and apply consumer, market, and performance insights toinform strategies, evaluate effectiveness, monitor key performancemetrics, and optimize campaigns and initiatives.
  • Write, edit, and develop clear, compelling content thatcommunicates the expertise, services, programs, and patient careexperience of the Heart and Vascular and Transplant CareLines.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to showcase physicians,clinical programs, research, innovation, patient stories, and otherareas that enhance the visibility and reputation of the Heart andVascular and Transplant Care Lines.
  • Plan, organize, and manage occasional community events.
  • Track project and campaign budgets and resources asappropriate.
Minimum Qualifications

EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience).

Department may hire employee at one of the following joblevels:

Marketing Communication Specialist, II: Requires abachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (orequivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.

Marketing Communication Specialist, III: Requiresa bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (orequivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

Preferences
  • Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
  • Proficiency with digital and email marketing tools, web contentmanagement platforms (Drupal, SharePoint), and social mediamarketing.
  • Experience using project management platforms such as Asana,Smartsheet, Basecamp, or similar tools.
  • Experience with photography, video, or other multimedia contentdevelopment.
  • Working knowledge of basic graphic design.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with theability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in healthcare, health systems, academic medicine, ora related environment.
