Job description
WHO WE ARE:

ActBlue is a nonprofit that builds tech and infrastructure for Democratic campaigns, progressive-aligned causes, and people trying to make an impact in order to fuel long-term, people-powered change. If you’ve ever given online to a Democrat or progressive organization, chances are you’ve used our powerful online fundraising platform.

We put power in the hands of small-dollar donors and help thousands of groups — from presidential candidates to environmental organizations — build grassroots movements. We envision a democracy where everyone looking to make progressive people-powered change can easily and effectively deploy their resources, energy, and creativity to shape our country and futures. Each and every one of us, from the political activists to the tech innovators to the customer service pros, is fully committed to our mission.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

To measure the impact of the brands’ narratives and visual representations based on established personas and identified company metrics.

The Market Research Analyst collaborates closely with the marketing team to identify the long-term value of the ActBlue brands, identify established and emerging industry and marketing trends, maintain a pulse on shifts in audience behaviors and appetites, and provide informed Marketing-performance updates and recommendations to the organization. The Market Research Analyst will report and support the Market Research Director in data visualization and reporting.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Measure and report campaign, media (print, social, website, events, etc), messaging, and creative effectiveness for each marketing initiative.
  • Support market research objectives based on key challenges, helping with research study design, execution, and reporting.
  • Drive day-to-day analysis and reporting for a long-term brand tracker to quantify the impact of ActBlue marketing efforts over time.
  • Partner with creative, growth, brand, and/or strategic marketing teams to optimize ads, report on in-market performance, and deliver actionable insights.
  • Query and gather data across multiple platforms, including HubSpot, Google Analytics, social listening, and others, to build stories and reports.
  • Provide ad hoc and regular analysis and reporting to support the ActBlue organization in understanding the category, competitors, and the ActBlue brand.
  • Monitor marketing activities in the non-profit, fundraising, political technology, and fintech industries to inform on shifts in trends, positioning, and consumer sentiment.
  • Collaborate with ActBlue Outreach and ActBlue Technical Services Data and Research departments to measure and assess demographic, geographic, behavioral, psychographic, and attitudinal changes across ActBlue personas.
  • Build actionable and data-visualized reports that answer key business questions and educate colleagues on best practices in market research.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics, finance, statistics, economics, psychology, marketing, or computer science, and 2-4 years of experience manipulating, analyzing, and reporting on a wide variety of data sets.
  • Strong quantitative analytics skills with Excel (including graphs and pivot tables), SQL, and data visualization tools required; can transform complex data sets into simple visuals and dashboards.
  • Experience in statistical and predictive modeling, regression analysis, and data mining.
  • Experience managing third-party research vendors.
  • Experience supporting brand marketing initiatives with quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Intermediate knowledge of marketing research providers in the industry.
  • Experience with CRM-based analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas and analysis both verbally and in writing to a non-technical audience.
