Essential Duties, Tasks, and Functions

  • Implement and communicate the strategic direction of the organization’s operational goals.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operational projects and systems.
  • Ensure that all branch departments are appropriately organized and staffed.
  • Monitor and ensure that all departments are adhering to all Company policies and procedures; provide a role model example by following and enforcing all Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee operational and management-level staff in the department.
  • Provide market intelligence of competitor activities, new competitors, sub-contractors, etc.
  • Assist Business Development team in identifying possible new builder relationships and participating in business development activities as needed along with the Business Development team.
  • Oversee the delivery of excellent customer service within each department as evidenced by company standards and policies.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to increase operational efficiencies, increased branch revenue and profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish key performance indicators and monitor performance to proactively identify productivity gaps and propose solutions.
  • Interact and communicate effectively with all levels of management, staff, vendors, and customers.
  • Oversee projects, estimate time and materials, supervise subordinates, maintain records and files, and prepare reports.
  • Oversee the work of electricians, including compliance with proper working procedures and electrical assignments.
  • Assist in the estimation of take offs and pricing of electrical jobs.
  • Maintain records on electrical jobs and oversee assignments to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in coordinating job assignments with other trades, e.g., plumbers, carpenters, etc.
  • Oversee all branch warehouse operations and activities.
  • Advise management team of technical problems concerned with installation, modification, and repair of electrical assignments.
  • Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, estimating and profitability forecasting and managing and executing the branch’s revenue, expense, and profitability goals vs. each year’s established budget.
  • Provide guidance, supervise, train, and evaluate Construction Managers and arrange and coordinate weekly staff meetings to provide effective communication and support subordinate personnel.
  • Represent the company in various civic and community functions to further enhance its image and develop additional business.
  • Validate and document all personnel actions and compensation plans within delegated authority.
  • Drive positive, effective, and productive initiatives that have impact beyond branch operations.
  • Consistently display and encourage behavior consistent with the company’s values.
  • Participate and actively engage in company meetings and professional development activities to keep abreast of current trends and changing environment to enhance competency.
  • Partners with Human Resources and Safety Director in providing necessary documents and communication related to employee related matters, such as incidents, disciplines, terminations, performance reviews, and leave time.
  • May perform additional functions depending on market demand and branch staffing to provide consistent quality customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of construction management experience (or equivalent) with decision-making responsibilities.
  • Three (3) years of successful managerial experience with demonstrated ability in establishing and controlling complex budgets, coordinating multiple responsibilities, delegating daily management of operations activities, and planning for further activities to principal direct reports.
  • Experience in the electrical contracting field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated managerial experience in setting work priorities for developing, mentoring, and appraising employee’s work performance.
  • Associate’s degree in a technical or engineering-related field or bachelor’s or graduate degree in business, computer science, engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent field experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Valid US issued Driver's License.
  • A US Driving Record that passes the Company’s insurance carrier’s approval requirements to drive for the Company.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and financial services programs.
  • The ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish as a second language is desirable.
  • Ability to read and write in English proficiently, including interpreting documents, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, invoices, shipping/packing lists, and materials lists.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed to communicate effectively with vendors, service dealers, customers, and all levels of company personnel.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

TRAVEL

Travel will be largely local to the branch location with occasional trips to the headquarters office in North Charleston, SC.
