Qualifications

  • 10+ years in engineering consulting with leadership and business development.
  • ABET-accredited civil/structural/architectural engineering degree; PE license required in AZ.
  • Experience with residential, commercial, or institutional building design and construction.
  • Strong communication and ability to translate technical concepts for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships, positioning the firm as a trusted partner.
  • Serve as technical lead, guiding other team members on engineering best practices while ensuring codes/standards compliance.
  • Perform field inspections and site investigations, guiding professionals accordingly.
  • Assess and provide opinions on civil/structural engineering, building enclosures, roofing, waterproofing, and exterior facades.
  • Develop engineering reports detailing opinions supported by codes and industry best practice.
  • Develop repair designs and oversee QA observations during repairs.
  • Support mediation, arbitration, and trial activities as requested.
  • Provide technical advice to clients including attorneys and insurers.
  • Lead and mentor team members to deliver high-quality engineering outputs.
  • Manage resources to support project delivery and business development.

Founded in 2000, Higgins & Associates, Inc. is a multi-disciplined forensic engineering and architecture firm headquartered in Denver, Colorado with an additional office located in Dallas, Texas. We provide forensic engineering, architectural consulting, expert witness,
construction quality assurance, and cost consulting services to the insurance industry, law firms, contractors, and commercial/residential property owners.

Higgins & Associates is seeking a highly motivated Market Lead responsible for strategic leadership, guiding business development, and ensuring technical excellence within the Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas market. Working in collaboration with the Chief Business Officer and CEO, this individual will serve as a client-facing leader, a technical expert in their own right, and as a senior technical authority, overseeing project delivery while advancing the firm’s presence and reputation in the marketplace.

The ideal candidate combines both strong technical expertise with proven business acumen. They bring a deep understanding of engineering principles, a record of successfully delivering complex projects with the ability to translate technical knowledge into clear value for clients, positioning them as a trusted advisor both internally and externally. First-hand experience of construction defect litigation (both plaintiff and defense), insurance evaluations, forensic analysis and the development of repair designs is highly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships, positioning the firm as a trusted partner.
  • Serve as technical lead, guiding other team members on engineering best practices while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform field inspections, required site visits and conduct site investigation activities, while leading and guiding other professionals to perform these duties.
  • Assess and provide opinions and recommendations relating to civil engineering, structural engineering, building enclosures, roofing systems, waterproofing systems, and various exterior facades.
  • Develop engineering reports detailing opinions based on sound technical knowledge supported by industry best practice, building codes and regulations.
  • Develop repair designs and undertake quality assurance observations during the implementation of repairs as requested by the client.
  • Support mediation, arbitration, and trial activities as requested by clients in both dispute resolution and litigation work.
  • Provide technical advice to clients including attorneys, homeowner association boards, contractors and insurers.
  • Use excellent communication skills to ensure deadlines and cost targets are met.
  • Lead and mentor other team members to produce effective engineering deliverables.
  • Manage resource allocation to support project delivery and business development goals.
  • With the support of the business development team, pursue, and secure new business opportunities aligned with the firm’s objectives.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in engineering consulting, including demonstrated success in business development and project leadership.
  • A good understanding of residential, commercial, or institutional building design and construction.
  • Knowledge of standards of the engineering industry including building codes as well as knowledge of building enclosure design principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines while remaining detail and quality focused.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information and build rapport with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and BlueBeam Revu.
  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD is desirable as well as knowledge of Civil3D or other commonly used engineering design and analysis tools.
Education/ Formal Training Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited university in the field of civil, structural or architectural engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Arizona is required.
