Job summary

AutoNation Inc. is seeking a Market HR Manager to serve as the pivotal field HR presence for General Managers and store leaders in the assigned market. You will ensure a reliable interview process, coach leaders, and drive staffing decisions with data and process discipline.

You will partner with Talent Acquisition, develop talent, and lead quarterly talent reviews while building strong relationships with COEs to optimize outcomes for associates and the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related field required
• 2–4 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist, coordinator, or HR assistant role
• aPHR or PHR preferred; SHRM-CP a plus
• Workday or comparable HRIS proficiency required; HR reporting tools or dashboards preferred
• Knowledge of federal and state employment law; escalation when warranted
• Retail, automotive, or multi-site experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Partner with GMs and hiring managers to ensure a consistent, evidence-based interview process
• Promote structured, behavioral interviews and data-driven decisions
• Participate in GM-level candidate interviews within the market
• Conduct monthly staffing reviews with GMs and track requisitions and time-to-fill
• Monitor early turnover and onboarding effectiveness, addressing gaps
• Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and route needs through the TA COE
• Develop talent and knowledge of market leaders and succession readiness
• Coach managers to handle people issues and build capability
• Advocate for internal promotions and bench readiness
• Coordinate 360 feedback and development discussions with COE support
• Leverage COE resources for talent development and avoid solo solution design
• Present basic talent reviews to Market President and VP, HR on a quarterly cadence
