Job summary

Hy-Vee Market Grille Clerk position located in-store requires engaging with customers, taking orders, and maintaining a clean, safe food-service area. You will greet customers, manage orders, and ensure fresh, quality products are prepared and presented with a friendly attitude.

Responsibilities include handling payments, assisting with inventory, and supporting team members to deliver an excellent guest experience. Training provided; night and weekend shifts required.

Qualifications

• No formal education required; training provided.
• Six months or less in similar food-service work is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one
• Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders
• Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary
• Pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand
• Handle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness at all times
• Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout your shift
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable
• Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary
• Price and order product and deliver orders as needed
• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines
• Report to work when scheduled and on time
