In this role, you'll keep things running smoothly by staying on top of orders, handling food safely, and working as part of a team that takes pride in quality and service.If you enjoy a fast-paced environment, like working with food, and love making customers happy, this could be a great fit for you.**What You'll Do**No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:* Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive one* Take customer orders at the Market Grille counter and answer the telephone promptly, providing helpful service including taking product orders* Review daily orders, anticipate product needs, and prepare and replenish product as necessary* Pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand* Handle food safely and review the status and appearance of food for freshness at all times* Maintain a clean, sanitary work area throughout your shift* Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed* Run the department register, receive payment, and make change where applicable* Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary* Price and order product and deliver orders as needed* Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment* Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned* Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines* Report to work when scheduled and on time**Your Skills**To be successful, you'll need to be able to:* Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables* Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately* Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing* Work effectively as part of a team to deliver a great customer experience**Reporting Relationships****Accountable and Reports to:** Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director; Market Grille Department Manager; Assistant Market Grille Department Manager; Service Managers**Education and Experience*** No education requirement; we will provide all the training you need to succeed* Six months or less of similar or related work experience; prior food service experience is a plus**Physical Requirements*** Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas* Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation* Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment* Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards* Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties**Working Environment**This role is performed in a store kitchen environment where things stay busy and engaging throughout your shift. You'll have exposure to noise, equipment movement, temperature extremes, and cleaning chemicals or solvents.
