Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States seeks an experienced Market Data Sourcing leader to drive strategy, negotiate contracts, and manage a team across Investment Services and Global Markets.

The role requires 8+ years in category management, a Bachelor’s degree, SME guidance, and strong abilities in risk-aware contracting and stakeholder collaboration.

You will oversee end-to-end contracting, identify cost-reduction opportunities, and ensure regulatory compliance in a fast-paced global environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in category management, preferably within the Market Data or Index category, sourcing, procurement, vendor management, and commercial negotiations within a financial institution, data provider, consulting firm, or other global organization
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Proven experience in people management, including coaching, mentoring, and developing team members, and providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) guidance and support
• Detailed understanding of contract language and structure, with experience reviewing, negotiating, and drafting agreements
• Market Data Index experience is a plus
• Passion and deep understanding of sourcing processes across global organizations
• Ability to work independently and within a team while managing multiple priorities
• Ability to thrive in an extremely fast‑paced, ambiguous environment
• Strong strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Drive Market Data strategy to ensure cost-effective and optimal products and services
• Prepare, analyze, negotiate, and execute Market Data contracts, including commercials and terms and conditions
• Partner with business, legal, and risk organizations to meet business needs, follow policies and procedures, and identify and mitigate risks
• Source products and services for Investment Services, Global Investment Management, Global Markets, Enterprise Risk Management, and Finance
• Manage the Index category and oversee a team of Sourcing team members
• Perform direct negotiations and manage large, complex Market Data agreements
• Provide stakeholder advice and guidance using a white glove approach
• Analyze data to identify cost-reduction opportunities
• Work with process partners to mitigate risks and realize opportunities
• Resolve requests and issues promptly and perform daily problem solving
• Review, negotiate, and draft Market Data contracts
• Partner with legal and business teams to ensure contracts reflect negotiated commercial terms, usage rights, and other conditions
• Identify and mitigate risks in contract language
• Ensure end-to-end contracting is completed promptly
• Keep stakeholders informed throughout the procurement lifecycle
• Support other categories, including Pricing, Reference Data, Exchanges, and Research/News
• Collaborate with Third Party Risk Management teams to support policies and consistently apply procedures
• Perform duties in accordance with regulatory compliance guidelines
• Report to the Sourcing and Category Strategy head of Market Data
