Job summary

Goldman Sachs in New York seeks an Associate to apply data science to Marquee analytics, building internal apps in Python and Slang to examine usage patterns for Sales teams. You will work with product managers and strategists to tailor firm offerings to client needs, and contribute to client/server systems with a focus on analytics and risk mitigation.

Experience with big data, SQL, Hadoop, Spark, HTML and JavaScript is expected, along with a strong foundation in statistics or operations

Qualifications

• Master's or bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• 1 year of experience with a master’s degree or 3 years with bachelor’s in the job or related role.
• Experience developing visualization and analysis tools using Python; ML or statistics to interpret data models; big data datasets with billions of records using SQL, Hadoop and Spark.
• Experience with web applications and software design using HTML and JavaScript; familiarity with financial securities used by institutional investors.

Responsibilities

• Utilize data science principles to analyze activity on the Marquee platform.
• Develop internal applications in Python and Slang to analyze usage patterns for Sales teams.
• Collaborate with sales, product managers and strategists to tailor firm products to client needs.
• Develop and support client and server‑side systems, ensuring robust performance and scalability.
• Design and support risk‑mitigating applications to keep the Marquee platform competitive.
• Develop scalable queries to retrieve and dissect large data sets for trading and risk models.
• Create market analytics for equities, rates, and FX opportunities.
