Job description

Opportunity (Part-Time): Maritime Fires Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Bottom Line Up Front: Hoplite Group is seeking a Maritime Fires SME to support an ongoing initiative focused on assessing capabilities and developing capacity for a partner nation. Ideal candidate is a retired O-5/O-6 officer with extensive Maritime Fires experience in INDOPACOM.

Location: Remote support (CONUS) and forward engagements (OCONUS) in a partner nation.

Level of Effort: (Part Time)
  • Non travel months:Roughly 20 hours/month.
  • Engagement:First in-person engagement tentatively scheduled for 17-28June 2025, with quarterly engagements thereafter (approximately 90 hours/month during engagement months).
  • Post-Engagement:Support as needed.

Objective: To provide subject matter expertise in joint FIRES planning and execution within a maritime environment. The SME will assist in:
  • Support partner teams in adapting maritime FIRES processes to their specific needs.
  • Provide expertise in joint FIRES planning and execution in coordination with key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to training, education, and institutional capacity-building efforts.
  • Assist in international and interagency cooperation initiatives.
  • Leverage in-person and virtual facilitation techniques to enhance engagement effectiveness.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
  • Expertise in dynamic maritime FIRES planning and execution in a joint environment setting.
  • Extensive experience in joint FIRES operations within a maritime environment.
  • Expertise implementing institutional capacity building programs.
  • Expertise in evaluation and assessment of partner nation FIRES systems and capabilities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • International experience and cultural awareness.
  • Background in training and education.
  • Strategic and operational-level experience.
  • Experience in security cooperation/security assistance programs.
  • Ability to facilitate both in-person and virtual engagements effectively.
  • Experience in INDOPACOM is desired but not required.
  • Department of Defense current / active SECRET clearance is a must.
