Job summary

SAIC is seeking an Electronics Engineer for our customer site in North Charleston, SC, to design modular power distribution for distributed maritime sensors and to integrate renewable energy options. The role requires a bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience or equivalent, and familiarity with embedded C++ and Python for microcontroller control.

On-site at Hanahan/North Charleston, SC with 10% travel, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience (or 9+ years without a degree).
• Experience programming microcontrollers to monitor system status and control subsystems.
• DC power distribution architectures for complex systems.
• IoT experience with low-SWaP sensors and systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop a modular power distribution architecture for distributed maritime sensors.
• Integrate voltage negotiation for subsystems (USB-C PD-like).
• Incorporate renewables like wave, solar, and thermals into system architecture for persistence.
• Perform power budget analysis to support sensing, comms, and edge processing.
• Design signal/power PCBs with good routing, thermal management, and grounding.
