Job summary

Nichols Brothers Boat Builders in Freeland, WA, seeks a Maritime Carpentry & Outfitting Technician to build and fit wood and sheet metal components to blueprints across all construction phases. The role includes HVAC installation, vent ducting fabrication, and final assembly in a shipyard setting.

You will measure layouts, use a range of hand and power tools, and perform MIG/Arc welding as required. A safety-conscious team player ready for overtime and strict standards is ideal.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational background welcome.
  • Basic mathematics and blueprint-reading knowledge.
  • Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
  • Journeyman candidates: 3+ years as carpenter, joiner, or outfitter.
  • Experience in shipbuilding/marine environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build and fit wood and sheet metal elements to blueprints during all phases of construction and rebuilds.
  • Install, repair, and remove HVAC systems; fabricate and modify vent ducting; join components.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe layouts on metals, plastics, and laminates onboard.
  • Operate carpentry and metalworking tools and forming machines; perform welding when needed.

Maritime Carpentry & Outfitting TechnicianDo you want your craftsmanship to move people, supplies, and first responders across the water?
