The Opportunity

Marine Underwriter Assistant – Plantation, FL

Salary starting at $53,000 per year plus bonus opportunities!

We are currently looking to add a Recreational Marine Underwriter Assistant to join our team during an exciting phase of growth. This position will be responsible for assisting with underwriting and growing an existing yacht book of business, which includes Hull and P&I coverages. An Underwriter Assistant provides support by reviewing applications, evaluating risk, creating quotes, and processing new and renewal business. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with boats and yachts, along with working knowledge of ocean/recreational marine insurance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

• Assist in the Underwriting process for current Marine book of business
• Review applications and evaluate risks
• Research and understand carrier guidelines and delegated authority
• Refer items exceeding authority level
• Communicate with local agent partners, brokers, and underwriters where necessary
• Process and service new and renewal business for US based yachts
• Train or assist in the training of others, as necessary

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree – (Business, Economics, Finance, Risk Management & Insurance or other related major or experience preferred)
• Experience with boats and yachts
• Working knowledge of property and casualty insurance
• Strong customer orientation, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong problem analysis and resolution skills
• Must be able to prioritize and be responsive to complex issues
• Detail oriented and able to multi-task
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to navigate various websites and databases
• Occasional travel may be required
