Marine Travel Lift Operator (Transportation)

The Equipment Operator is responsible for moving vessels within the facility for haul & launch, designated work, storage, or sales. This role includes inspecting, repairing, and maintaining all assigned equipment. The specific title may vary (e.g., Equipment Operator (Service), (Storage), (Marina)).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Operate heavy equipment such as marine forklifts, travel lifts, and hydraulic trailers efficiently and safely.
  2. Handle vessels carefully during movement in and out of water and within designated areas.
  3. Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  4. Perform yard work, including pressure washing, bottom painting, and vessel blocking.
  5. Assist with ground maintenance and marina cleanliness.
  6. Work overtime as required.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
  1. Follow SHM safety and environmental policies and complete related training.
  2. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  3. Report accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years relevant experience preferred.
  • Heavy forklift experience and certification required.
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders, work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, and lift 50 pounds.
  • Basic boat handling skills preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
