  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certifications or coursework are a plus.
  • Ability to work on-site in Jacksonville, FL, including outdoor/on-water activities.

Role Description

The Marine Technology Instructor is a part-time, on-site role located in Jacksonville, FL. This position is responsible for delivering hands-on marine technology instruction to youth, including basic boating skills, marine safety, equipment use, and related vocational concepts. Day-to-day tasks include planning and implementing lessons, supervising students during classroom and on-water activities, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and organizational guidelines. The instructor collaborates with other program staff to align marine technology coursework with educational and behavioral goals, provides ongoing feedback and support to youth, and maintains instructional materials, tools, and equipment. The role also involves documenting student progress, participating in staff meetings, and contributing to a positive, respectful learning environment.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess skills in Curriculum Development and Education to design and deliver engaging marine technology learning experiences.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Instructional Design and Training to create practical, skills-based lessons and facilitate hands-on learning.
  • Candidates should possess strong Communication skills to interact effectively with youth, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Prior experience teaching or mentoring youth in educational, vocational, or recreational settings is highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of marine technology, boating, or related maritime fields, including safety practices and equipment operation, is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment, with strong classroom and behavior management skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical certifications or coursework in marine technology or education are a plus.
  • Ability to work on-site in Jacksonville, FL, including occasional outdoor and on-water activities, and meet any applicable background screening requirements.
