Job summary

TopSide Marinas in the United States seeks a Sr. Marine Technician to service diesel and gas engines, transmissions, and propulsion systems across our marina network.

You will diagnose, repair, and overhaul engines, gearsets, stern drives, and gensets, and perform installations and winterization as needed. The role requires 6+ years of mechanical repair experience, OEM certifications, and strong electrical troubleshooting abilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 6+ years of mechanical repair and installation experience.
• OEM certification(s) required.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and speak English.
• Proficient with test instruments and specialty OEM tools.
• Experience with diesel, inboard and outboard engines.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair marine gas and diesel engines from maintenance to overhaul.
• Repair/rebuild gearsets, transmissions and stern drives.
• Diagnose and repair carbureted and fuel injected intake systems.
• Diagnose propulsion systems such as transmissions and sail drives.
• Diagnose and repair gensets, 12V and battery systems.
• Perform winterization and spring commissioning of engines and ship systems.
• Install new engines, air conditioning systems, pumps, windlass, and others.
• Perform mechanical repairs including water systems, waste systems, steering systems, pumps.
• Help train and assist others; demonstrate problem-solving and teamwork.
• Work five days per week, 8 hours per day; seasonal schedule changes may occur.

Larsen Marine is seeking a Sr. Marine Technician. The Marine Mechanic/Technician’s responsibility is to perform the duties below on a regular basis and meet customer satisfaction standards as well as company sales and safety requirements. This position requires the team member to work 5 days per week and 8 hours per day. Seasonal schedule changes may take place at management discretion.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot and repair marine gas and diesel engines from maintenance to complete overhaul
• Repair/rebuild gearsets, transmissions and stern drives
• Diagnose and repair carbureted and fuel injected intake systems
• Repair propulsion systems such as transmissions, sail drives, stern drives, etc.
• Diagnose and repair various gensets, 12V and battery bank systems
• Perform winterization and spring commissioning of engines and ship systems
• Installations such as new engines, air conditioning systems, pumps, anchor windlass, and others as assigned
• Perform mechanical repairs including water systems, waste systems, steering systems, engine controls, pumps, etc.
• Help train and assist others as needed
• Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills and abilities
• Perform other duties as assigned or apparent

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

• Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
• High school diploma required
• 6+ years of experience in the performance of mechanical repair and installation
• OEM certification(s)
• Ability to speak and read English and understand electrical wiring diagrams
• Ability to use test instruments
• Ability to use specialty tools as designated by OEM’s
• Must provide tools and test equipment
  • Specialty tools and diagnostics provided
• Strong electrical troubleshooting capabilities
• Experience in electrical and electronic installations
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
• Strong work ethic and personal commitment
• Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals
• Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
• Experience with a variety of internal combustion engines (diesel, inboard, outboard, etc.)
  • Diesel-only experience is welcome!
• Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work

Physical Requirements:

• Lift/carry up to 100 lbs unassisted
• Work at heights up to 30 feet
