Job summary

Freedom Boat Club in Tacoma, WA, is seeking a Marine Technician for full-time hours from 8:00am to 4:30pm with overtime as needed. The role maintains and repairs a fleet of 170+ boats year round, including travel across the Seattle area during summer for service and upkeep.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Mercury or Yamaha certification is a major plus.
  • Knowledgeable in outboard motors or boat basic systems.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to board boats safely.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to tow/launch boats on trailers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair a fleet of 170+ boats year round.
  • Travel during summer across 11 locations, mainly Seattle area, for repairs and upkeep.
  • Winter work at local repair shop refurbishing boats.
  • Perform gelcoat, fiberglass, basic and full services, and diagnostics.

Marine Technician - Puget Sound

This position will be a FT position from 8:00am to 4:30pm with some overtime required.

Position Summary

The field/shop technician role is responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of

170 plus boats year round. In summer months you will be traveling across our 11

locations mainly focused in the Seattle area performing repair,maintenance, and

upkeep to provide the highest quality of boat to our members. In the winter You will be

required to work out of our local repair shop refurbishing boats. You will have the

opportunity to work on a variety of tasks, from gelcoat and fiberglass, to basic and full

services, and full diagnostics and repair on all boats and engines. Our goal is to keep

the boats serviced and functioning so our members can enjoy their time on the water.

In the service department we cover all aspects of boat maintenance.

Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Mercury or Yamaha certification is a major plus!
  • Knowledgeable in outboard motors or boat basic systems
  • Physical ability to lift/ carry up to 50 lbs
  • Physical ability to board and de-board boats safely
  • Physical ability to kneel/ bend to clean interiors of boats/ boating compartments
  • Have a valid drivers license and be able to learn towing and launching boats on trailers proficiently
  • Have a personal mobile device for company communication apps (Slack, ADP, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
  • Highly effective communication skills and friendly customer service are required
  • Must be a self-starter and capable of working without direct supervision
  • Minimum one (1) year of related experience preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive pay, medical,

into each position. The pay scale for this position is $20.50 - $38.50 USD. Candidates

hired usually do not start at the top end of the pay scale taking into account skill set,

level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. We invest into our team
