Position Summary
The Marine Technician Instructor creates, delivers, and monitors the success of the Marine Apprenticeship Program. Responsibilities include developing curriculum, monitoring completion rates, and maintaining professional relationships with participating employers and apprentices.
Essential Job Duties
- Develop and deliver marine technician training programs for apprentices using various methods.
- Create training materials such as presentations, manuals, and exercises to enhance learning.
- Utilize current marine industry information and technology, updating as necessary.
- Manage training schedules and coordinate logistics for classroom and lab sessions.
- Support apprentices in applying skills and knowledge in classroom, lab, and on-the-job settings.
- Monitor and evaluate apprentice performance, providing feedback and action plans for improvement.
- Complete assessments and record results in assessment portals.
- Coordinate with apprenticeship partners to ensure on-the-job training requirements are met.
- Maintain contact with employer partners to link on-the-job training and address areas needing mastery.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts on technical updates and participate in ongoing education to keep certifications current.
- Attend and maintain crisis intervention, de-escalation, CPR, and First Aid certifications as required.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience
- In-depth technical knowledge of the marine technician and service field, with relevant certifications and qualifications, including journey worker status.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly, both written and verbal.
- Experience in developing training materials such as presentations, videos, manuals, and assessments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint; basic Excel skills).
- Passion for teaching, inspiring, and engaging learners, with adaptability to individual needs.
- Training in adult learning teaching techniques or willingness to obtain within 80 days of hire.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines, with a minimum of current OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain it within the timeline.
- Commitment to staying updated with technological advancements in the marine field.
