Job summary

  • Willing to travel CONUS/OCONUS.
  • Obtain NFPA 10, OSHA 10, VSRA and DOT certifications.
  • Manufacturer certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Become DOT certified to perform hydrostatic testing of pressurized cylinders and learn inspection criteria for extinguishers.
  • Understand and implement proper Personal Protective Equipment usage.
  • Comply with Hiller’s Job Safety Analysis Forms.
  • Provide excellent customer service and satisfaction.
  • Assist Lead Mechanical Technicians with installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems worldwide.
  • Perform hydrostatic testing of firehoses.
  • Inspect portable/semi-portable extinguishers.
  • Inspect and test Water Mist systems.
  • Inspect and test Fire Suppression systems.
  • Inspect and test Galley Hood Water Washdown systems.
  • Inspect and test Fire Detection Systems.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and grow within the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$23.00 - $28.00 / Hourly.The posted salary range reflects the anticipated hiring range for this position at the time of posting and is provided in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual starting pay will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, education, internal equity, geographic location (where applicable), and market considerations. Not all candidates will be hired at the top of the posted range.The posted range reflects base salary only and does not include any applicable bonuses, commissions, overtime, or the value of employee benefits. Eligible employees may participate in the Company's benefit programs, subject to the terms and eligibility requirements of each plan.

Job Summary

The Marine Installation Technician will attend numerous class marine vessels all around the world to perform installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair to fire protection equipment of all kinds. Due to the nature of marine work on ships, this position requires that travel may be required with very short notice. The Marine Technician holds a high level of responsibility as lives and assets depend on the accuracy and quality of work being performed daily.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to become DOT certified to perform hydro static testing of pressurized cylinders as well as learn the basic inspection criteria for inspecting portable/semi-portable fire extinguishers/cylinders.
  • Understand and implement the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must understand the purpose, daily use function of Hiller’s Job Safety Analysis Forms.
  • Display a comprehensive understanding of Hiller’s expectation to provide excellent customer service/satisfaction.
  • Assist Lead Mechanical Technicians with installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems world-wide daily.
  • Perform hydrostatic testing of firehoses.
  • Perform inspections of portable/semi-portable fire extinguishers.
  • Perform inspections and testing of Water Mist systems.
  • Perform inspections and testing of Fire Suppression systems.
  • Perform inspections and testing of Galley Hood Water Washdown systems.
  • Perform inspections and testing of Fire Detection Systems.
  • Display the intention to learn and grow as a valued employee of the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we are looking for
  • MUST have minimum high school diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 1-2 years if basic mechanical skills
  • MUST have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to work full-time hours, with the possibility of unusual schedule hours as needed, along with overtime hours as needed, sometimes on short notice.
  • Travel may be needed, including international travel
  • Must be able to gain clearance to enter government work sites
  • Prior knowledge or the abilityto learn NFPA 10 (Portable Extinguishers).
  • Prior knowledge or the ability to learn NFPA 17 (Standards for Dry Chemical Systems).
  • Prior knowledge or the ability to learn CFR’s regarding Fire Detection and Suppression Systems.
  • Read and understand OEM manuals for the various systems.
  • Prior knowledge or the ability to learn SOLAS and USCG regulations for Fire Detection and Suppression Systems.
  • Have general knowledge and understanding of the hand tools required for the trade.
  • Good/Clear communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and understand functionality of systems.
  • Must be able to travel/work CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Obtain NFPA 10, OSHA 10, VSRA and DOT training certification.
  • Become certified by system manufacturers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements
  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require use of fall protection equipment and other safety devices
  • Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.
