Job summary

SGS is seeking a Marine Surveyor to supervise and perform marine inspections for one or more branches. You will conduct vessel draft surveys, barge surveys, on/off hire condition surveys, and product inspections for dry bulk and petroleum products, using draft immersion techniques.

Qualifications

• Associates degree is required as a minimum.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience as a Marine/Cargo Surveyor.
• Experience in harbor operations preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in one of the specified engineering fields plus 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with marine surveying methodologies including draft surveys.
• Experience with cargo sampling, analysis and hold inspections.

Responsibilities

• Perform marine inspections and surveys on vessels.
• Conduct vessel draft surveys and barge surveys.
• Inspect cargo holds and sample cargos.
• Prepare draft survey reports and certificates.
• Provide reports to clients using standard formats.
• Coordinate with terminals and staff on inspections.
• Advise clients on hull, cargo damage and risk.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Maintain communications with Regional Manager.
• Utilize SGS tools and reporting procedures.
• Oversee cargo sampling and analysis.
• Liaise with terminal and warehouse personnel.
