Job summary

Treo-Staffing, LLC is seeking a skilled welder to join our shipyard team in Texas. You will weld structural components for repair and new construction, interpret blueprints and AWS symbols, and ensure welds meet project specifications.

Responsibilities include preparing weld areas, performing SMAW/GMAW, and inspecting work for quality while adhering to hot-work controls and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Hands-on structural welding experience in shipyard or marine construction.
• Ability to read welding symbols and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Proficient with welding machines, grinders, and related tools.
• Capability to pass welding qualification tests (stick and MIG).

Responsibilities

• Join structural steel components across plates, stiffeners, bulkheads, and other hull structures for repair and new construction.
• Interpret blueprints, AWS welding symbols, and written work specs to plan and execute tasks.
• Prep weld areas by grinding, cleaning, and removing damaged or out-of-tolerance material.
• Perform SMAW and GMAW welds in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements.
• Inspect your work and remediate defects as directed to meet quality standards.
• Coordinate closely with structural fitters, supervisors, and other trades to complete assigned work.
• Follow shipyard safety rules, including hot-work controls and required PPE.

A day in this roleYou start your shift reviewing work packages and ship drawings, mapping out the welds that will bring a vessel back to life or move a new build forward. You prepare joints, verify symbols, and lay down sound welds that meet stringent procedures and project specifications.
