Job summary

NSC Staffing is seeking Structural Welders to support ship repair and modernization projects in Norfolk, VA. You will weld various metals on ships or in shops, and supervise helpers while ensuring safety and quality.

The role requires passing the Structural Weld Test (Stick and Flux Core) and knowledge of ship repair terminology, plus the ability to read drawings and follow Navy/MSC/ABS standards. OSHA PPE requirements apply.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years as Structural Welder with SMAW, FCAW, GMAW.
• Certify SMAW, GTAW, FCAW or Silver Brazing.
• Knowledge of P-3 joint with backing ring and P-14 socket weld.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards.
• Physically able to wear PPE and adhere to OSHA safety.
• Basic math and measurements in US/metric systems.

Responsibilities

• Pass the Structural Weld Test (Stick and Flux Core) and weld pipes of various metals.
• Weld for ship repair and modernization on military and commercial vessels.
• Guide assigned helpers during welding tasks.
• Write Condition Reports with detailed findings and corrective actions.
• Interpret drawings, specs, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards.
• Operate and maintain welding equipment and PPE.
