IMIA, LLC, a national marine surface preparation painting contractor, is hiring a Shipfitter in Portsmouth, VA. You will fabricate, assemble and erect steel structures aboard ships, read drawings and templates, and lay out parts using scribe and hand tools.

Knowledge of 1689 and 1688 is required to perform duties safely and accurately. This full‑time, non‑exempt role offers hourly pay from $20 to $40 DOE, with benefits including health, dental, vision, life, LTD, accident coverage, a 401k and

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED preferred with related shipyard experience.
• Experience with steel, aluminum and stainless steel is required.
• Ability to read blueprints and lay out parts from drawings.

Aufgaben

• Lay out, fabricate and brace metal structural parts such as plates, bulkheads and frames.
• Read blueprints or templates and mark reference lines for drilling and welding.
• Position parts in hull and align components using jacks and clamps.
• Assemble items per supervisor instructions and maintain clean work areas.
