Job summary

Birdon America Inc. in Portland, CT is seeking a Marine Service Technician Base Level to troubleshoot, repair, install, test and document complex vessel systems.

You will support prep for sea trials, corrective actions and assist lower-level technicians as needed. The role requires hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, propulsion and related systems, strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently or in a team in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a deck hand with boat handling capability.
• Strong electrical and testing knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair vessel systems including mechanical, electrical, propulsion, steering, navigation and plumbing.
• Troubleshoot using diagnostic tools, test equipment, manuals and schematics.
• Complete work orders and maintain quality standards.
• Support pre-test checks, testing, dockside testing and readiness.
• Lead boat hauling and launch operations and assist with exterior maintenance.
• Provide guidance to Level 1 technicians and elevate safety concerns.
• Maintain records of service, testing and repairs.
• Identify efficiency improvements and reduce rework.
