Job summary

Portland Yacht Services seeks a Marine Systems & Mechanical Technician to join our Systems Shop in Portland, ME. The role covers complex mechanical and onboard systems aboard vessels, including engines, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related equipment.

Responsibilities include diagnosing, servicing, and repairing engines and electrical systems, performing maintenance, reading diagrams, and documenting work and parts used. Competitive pay and standard benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing inboard engines and marine systems.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals and technical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for marine electrical and HVAC systems.
• Proficiency documenting work performed, parts used, and recommended repairs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair inboard marine engines.
• Perform routine engine and mechanical maintenance.
• Troubleshoot engine-related components and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair marine electrical systems.
• Work with 12V and 24V DC electrical systems.
• Diagnose and service AC shore-power and onboard electrical systems.
• Install and service batteries, charging systems, inverters, and related equipment.
• Diagnose, repair, and install freshwater and plumbing systems.
• Service marine sanitation and waste systems.
• Diagnose, repair, and install marine HVAC systems.
• Service pumps, hoses, valves, and related onboard equipment.
• Install new marine equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot complex onboard system problems.
• Perform seasonal commissioning and decommissioning.
