Global Chemical Company, based in Downtown Houston, seeks a Marine Scheduler to facilitate vessel, pipeline, barge, and other movements in the Operations Department. The role reports to the VP Supply Chain – Americas and involves ensuring accurate inventory levels, timely documentation, and strong customer service, with WFH on Fridays.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, at least two years of logistics experience, and proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft

Qualifications

  • At least two years of relevant (customer service or logistics) work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and internet research.
  • Previous experience with ERP software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage vessel scheduling for bulk deliveries to maintain inventories and meet contractual volumes.
  • Update terminal inventories and provide vessel ETA data and invoicing accuracy.
  • Manage surveyor/terminal attendance and minimize demurrage, negotiating costs as needed.
  • Administer all vessel documentation and ensure nominations align with the schedule; issue POs.
  • Ensure forecasted sales are entered in inventory projections weekly.
  • Communicate status of bulk orders to terminals, customers, and inspection companies.
  • Maintain ship-to information in systems and support end-of-month reporting.
  • Approve marine-related invoices and assist with collections.
  • Assist and back-up other staff and represent the company at events.
  • Support ad hoc projects with Operations Manager.

Job description

Downtown, Global Chemical company, WFH on Friday. Direct Hire. Salary based on experience up to 100K plus discretionary bonus. POSITION SUMMARY: Reports to the VP Supply Chain – Americas and is responsible to facilitate product scheduling for vessel, pipeline, barge, paper and exchange movements, in the Operations Department. The Marine Scheduler will also maintain current customer relationships and provide quality customer service through day to day contact and problem resolution: while complying with company directives, local, state and international transportation laws by performing the following duties:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Manage vessel scheduling requirements for all bulk product deliveries (foreign and domestic) to maintain sufficient product levels in inventories to supply customer contractual volumes/deliveries. These vessel deliveries are to be scheduled in the most cost efficient and logistically effective method, to minimize demurrage and without jeopardizing client.
  2. Responsible for managing all terminal inventories and timely and accurately updates inventory information and projections; including daily entries, reconciliations, and input of vessel ETAs, surveyor Responsible for verifying accuracy of supplier invoice information. Marine Coordinator will promptly notify the Operations Manager of any concerns, problems, or questions regarding same.
  3. Marine Scheduler will be responsible for managing surveyor / terminal attendance and minimize any demurrage Approve and timely calculates and negotiates demurrage or other costs owed by third parties within contractual or other limitations periods and updates accounting regarding resolution.
  4. Administer all vessel documentation for shipments originating in Trinidad, NGL or other named locations. Verifying that nominations are in accordance with the vessel schedule. Issuing PO’s; Verifying that all vessel documentation is correct and accurately entered into systems and documents. Timely distribution of vessel documentation to all pertinent parties in order to facilitate timely discharge of cargo and comply with applicable import and export regulations and verifying, reviewing and accurately filing / distributing applicable import/export documentation as
  5. Ensure that forecasted sales are accurately entered in inventory projections on a weekly
  1. Communicate, update and confirm status of all bulk related orders to parties involved, including but not limited to, terminals, customers and inspection companies.

  4. Approves marine-related invoices and resolves issues concerning same (generally on a weekly basis, or more frequently as needed).

  6. Tracks, inputs, and monitors all incidents, non-conformance and corrective actions through
  7. Assists and serves as back-up to other Operations Department employees and capably represents the Company at industry events and customer functions, when and as
  8. Works with Operations Manager on various ad hoc projects and performs all other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Supply Chain, Business Administration, Communications or Procurement) is preferred; however, in its discretion, may elect to substitute this Degree requirement for substantial equivalent work experience.
  2. At least two (2) years of relevant (e.g., customer service or logistics) work experience.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Excel skills), Outlook, and internet research.
  4. Previous experience with ERP software is

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  1. Will work in an office
  2. Must be willing to work his/her regular schedule as well as additional hours during the week and/or weekend, if required.
  3. Must have on-call availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to proactively respond to customer, employee, supplier, and other operational needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Stamina and strength required to sit and type at a desk for extended periods of time; walking, bending, and standing are occasionally required (the length of time may vary from day to day and task to task).
