Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in safety or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years marine industry training, safety, or operations experience preferred.
• TWIC required.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
• USCG Subchapter M Regulations knowledge preferred.
• Experience developing marine safety documentation/materials preferred.
• Ability to present and communicate clearly with all levels of an organization.
• Ability to adapt communication style to influence and engage audiences.
• Must take initiative and be proactive in addressing issues.
• Conscientiousness, dependability and commitment required.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
• Proficient with computers and smartphones.
• Ability to use various business/technical software tools.
• MS Office proficiency required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• HELM, Mobile Ops, Oracle experience preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to walk and ride on inland towing vessels and barges.
• Ability to travel up to 75% domestically.
• Available for after-hours calls and emergencies.
• Must pass drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Work with personnel and management on marine safety, environmental, regulatory, and training aspects.
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health programs.
• Develop and track training for all employees.
• Assist with management of the training database.
• Interact with regulatory agencies such as USCG, ABS, and OSHA.
• Conduct vessel visits and TSMS audits as needed.
• Attend external TSMS audits and surveys with regulators as needed.
• Conduct inspections as needed.
• Attend SIRES and customer vessel inspections.
• Assist safety meetings and orientations.
• Prepare and distribute safety meetings, drills and alerts.
• Distribute and track personal protective equipment.
• Provide safety oversight for projects and day-to-day work.
• Perform incident investigations as required.
• Provide safety support to assigned vessel team.
