Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. in Houma, LA seeks a Quality Control Specialist to perform inspections and verify that shipyard work meets contract specifications, regulatory requirements, approved drawings, and company quality standards.

You will document inspection results, coordinate hold-points with ABS, USCG, and customer representatives, prepare reports, and identify nonconforming work with corrective actions through closure.

Qualifications

• Relevant quality control experience in shipbuilding, marine construction, or heavy industrial work.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of ABS rules, USCG regulations, and industry standards.
• Preferred inspection certifications (AWS, AMPP) or similar.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, including structural fit-up, welding, dimensional checks, and coating application, as assigned.
• Verify work against approved drawings, specifications, work packages, procedures, and the project ITP.
• Coordinate hold-point and witness-point inspections with ABS, USCG, customer representatives, and other authorized parties.
• Prepare accurate inspection reports, test records, and supporting quality documentation.
• Identify nonconforming work, initiate nonconformance reports when required, and verify corrective actions through closure.
• Communicate inspection results and quality concerns clearly to Production, Engineering, Planning, and QC leadership.
• Maintain organized, complete, and traceable quality records for assigned work.
• Support trials, test events, regulatory inspections, and final acceptance activities.
• Follow company safety requirements and maintain professional conduct in the office, yard, and aboard vessels.
