Job summary

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Build Engineer to support the design, integration, and commissioning of main propulsion systems for autonomous surface vessels. You will oversee shipyard installation, shaft alignment, and propulsion integration while coordinating with offshore design teams in Austin.

The role requires hands-on experience with marine propulsion machinery, fuel systems, gensets, seawater cooling, and regulatory compliance, with opportunities to influence defense

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or related field.
• Familiarity with ABS machinery rules, ABYC fuel standards, and US Coast Guard regs.
• Strong fundamentals in propulsion systems, shaft alignment, fuel/cooling systems, gensets, and marine machinery.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, analysis, and integration of propulsion and fuel systems.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on CAD modeling and system optimization.
• Oversee installation, alignment, and commissioning of engines, shafting, and gensets.
• Lead ECOs, non-conformances, and CRA/IRB-driven resolutions.
• Support integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs.
