Job summary

Job description

We are looking for a seasoned Marine Project Manager to direct a variety of initiatives, including vessel maintenance, shipyard operations, marine construction, and industrial waterfront fabrication. You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from initial strategy to final delivery, while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols, financial targets, and quality benchmarks.

Successful applicants will bring a robust history in ship repair, marine infrastructure, or heavy industrial project management, paired with the leadership and organizational expertise necessary to drive complex operations.

Core Duties
  • Oversee the simultaneous execution of various marine and shipyard projects.
  • Create comprehensive plans for project timelines, financial allocations, and resource distribution.
  • Facilitate collaboration between internal teams, external contractors, suppliers, and clients to improve project efficiency.
  • Analyze technical documentation, including contracts, blueprints, and project specifications.
  • Track ongoing work to ensure all critical milestones are met on time.
  • Optimize project performance by tracking material consumption and labor output.
  • Maintain financial oversight through diligent forecasting and management of change orders.
  • Perform regular site assessments and vessel inspections to ensure operational success.
  • Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by enforcing maritime and OSHA safety standards.
  • Manage the acquisition of essential marine services, equipment, and materials.
  • Identify potential operational obstacles early to mitigate project risks.
  • Provide stakeholders and management with regular, detailed project status reports.
  • Assist in business development by supporting the bidding and estimating process.
Professional Requirements
  • At least five years of experience managing projects within the marine, shipyard, or industrial construction sectors.
  • Deep technical knowledge regarding vessel systems, repair workflows, and marine operations.
  • Demonstrated success in leading project teams while managing complex schedules and budgets.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and complex technical specifications.
  • Solid grasp of project controls and the administration of contracts.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to guide and motivate diverse project teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and the flexibility to travel to various work sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related maritime discipline.
  • Professional certification such as a PMP.
  • Practical experience within dry docks, marine terminals, or shipyard environments.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as ABS, NAVSEA, or Coast Guard requirements.
  • Experience managing both union and non-union personnel.
  • Technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, piping, and fabrication systems.
