Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO seeks a skilled pipefitter to install and maintain ship piping systems, following blueprints and work orders. You will cut, bend, weld, braze, and assemble pipes, test systems for leaks, and ensure compliance with specifications aboard ships.

Applicants should have high school education or equivalent, with 3+ years experience or 2 years of NASSCO training in pipefitting. Ability to read blueprints and work at heights or in confined spaces is required.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education preferred.
• Two years on the job training at NASSCO in pipefitting or minimum three years of experience is required.
• Must be able to read blueprints and follow exact tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and spool sheets for assigned tasks.
• Set up work area with appropriate tools and materials in shop or on board ship.
• Cut, bend, weld, braze, grind, and/or burn pipes to fit and connect for shipboard installation.
• Inspect and test piping systems for leaks and to ensure specifications.
