Job summary

Barton & Gray in North Stonington, CT is seeking a Paint Prep Team Member for our yacht service team. The role focuses on cleaning, preparing, and maintaining yacht surfaces for varnish and paint work, with attention to detail and safe handling of materials.

You will mask, sand, wash, and assist the varnish team, ensuring surfaces are ready for finish coats while following safety guidelines and collaborating with captains and support staff to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in a marine service yard desirable.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on boats in various conditions.
• Must wear PPE as required.

Responsibilities

• Mask, tape, sand vessels to prepare for varnish coating.
• Assist the varnish team with maintenance and repairs.
• Prepare boats for paint including washing, sanding, masking.
• Use correct products for polishing and waxing of yachts.
• Inspect boat surfaces for scratches, dents or damage and report findings.
• Comply with laws and regulations on hazardous materials; report deviations.
• Maintain a clean work area and dispose of hazardous waste properly.
• Attend production meetings and meet deadlines with the team.
• Maintain good working relationships with Captains and staff.
• Additional duties as assigned by the reporting manager.
