TowBoatU.S. Ft. Lauderdale is seeking a skilled Marine Mechanic – Shop Assistant to join our team. This critical role supports our operations by maintaining our fleet, assisting with vessel transport, and ensuring our boats and equipment remain in peak condition. We’re looking for a motivated individual with both mechanical ability and real-world boating experience – someone ready to step into a vital role and grow with us.
Responsibilities:
Perform basic diesel engine maintenance
Conduct basic automotive and light truck maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, brakes, and monthly checks
Perform basic maintenance on outboard motors (minimum two years' experience preferred)
Assist with boat handling, launching, loading, and offloading vessels safely
Operate company vessels confidently (twin engine experience preferred)
Trailer boats over the road safely (beyond personal/recreational experience)
Move, carry, and lift equipment weighing up to 70 pounds
Work in confined spaces as needed for vessel maintenance and repairs
Maintain clean, organized, and efficient workspaces in the shop and yard
Support other team members and departments as needed
Qualifications:
Minimum two years’ experience with outboard motor maintenance
Proven experience trailering and transporting boats (professional or extensive experience preferred)
Familiarity with boatyard operations, boat loading, and offloading
Comfortable operating twin-engine vessels and performing general boat handling tasks
Basic understanding of diesel engine systems and light truck maintenance
Ability to carry 70 lbs and work in tight spaces
Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude
Willingness to train and expand skills as needed
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required)
CDL a plus but not required
