Job summary

American Commercial Barge Line is seeking a Marine Mechanic in Channelview, TX to maintain towboat fleet and perform engine and systems repairs. You will inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot propulsion and auxiliary machinery, ensuring safety and compliance with USCG and company policies.

The role requires a strong mechanical background, TWIC credential, and ability to work weekends/nights as needed. Channelview residents preferred; competitive salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active TWIC credential required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 5+ years of mechanical maintenance experience on vessels or similar equipment.
• Must live within a reasonable driving distance to Channelview, TX.
• Ability to pass physical examination requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on engines, generators, and vessel systems.
• Inspect, plan maintenance, troubleshoot propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
• Use an electric multimeter safely for troubleshooting.
• Maintain documentation and inventory for spare parts.
• Stay on call weekends and nights during assigned weeks.
• Follow safety, environmental policies and SMS in daily work.
