Job summary

We are seeking a Marine Mechanic to serve on our SEMAT team located in Yokosuka, Japan. This experienced Marine Mechanic will be responsible for performing maintenance and maintenance training to assist shipboard personnel in the operation, maintenance and repair of specific items of engineering systems/equipment onboard USN Surface Ships.

*This role does not provide relocation assistance.

• Assisting ship's force personnel with shipboard mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
• Applies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.
• Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
• Performs a variety of complicated and non routine tasks.
• Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
• Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance and SOFA LOA.
• Must have experience as a shipboard marine mechanical trades specialty with shipboard maintenance and repair experience.
• Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.
• Must becompetentin the use ofmechanicalequipment and tools in corrective repair efforts in order to accomplish ship repairs.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Must bephysicallyable to climb and work on ships in an industrial environment.
• Start date contingent upon approved CAC IDbase access, which are required for this position and continued employment.

Preferred Requirements

• Recent Marine Mechanical shipboard experience on CG/DDG/LCC class ships.
• Prefer US Navy MM/EN/GSM technical/professional training and or certifications.
• A current, valid DoD security clearance.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
