Job summary

RLI Insurance Company seeks an experienced claims professional to oversee complex bodily injury liability claims, including marine exposure, with a focus on fair and efficient resolution. You will assess coverage and manage investigations while maintaining rigorous standards.

The role requires strong writing and communication skills to coordinate with insureds, claimants, underwriters, and leadership, and to advance settlements consistent with company policies and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bodily injury liability claims handling experience, especially marine-related exposures.
• Proactive investigation, risk transfer, and claims resolution.
• Excellent written and oral communication with insureds, claimants, underwriters, and management.

Responsibilities

• Proactively handle liability claims, primarily involving bodily injury in a marine liability context, to achieve optimum payout results by resolving claims fairly, expeditiously, and economically.
• Assess and analyze coverage issues on claims, and issue appropriate coverage letters and documentation.
• Complete timely investigation of claims and post appropriate reserves.
• Pursue risk transfer opportunities, including addressing contractual indemnity and additional insured issues.
• Handle claims in accordance with RLI's Best Practices.
• Resolve claims in timely manner to an effective outcome.
• Travel to and attend mediations, settlement conferences, and/or trials as warranted.
