Job summary

• Apply vapor barriers, jacketing, and sealants as per specs.
• Perform work in confined spaces and active shipyard environments.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Marine Insulator position in Norfolk, Virginia!

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience as a Marine Insulator
• Must have verifiable experience working with sound dampening tile
• Must have experience working with rubber, kalo, fiberglass, pads, and haul boards
• Must have OSHA 10 certification
• Must be eligible for DBIDS access
• Must have ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Job Duties

• Install, remove, repair, and replace acoustic and thermal insulation on piping, machinery, bulkheads, overheads, and ventilation systems aboard ships and submarines
• Fabricate and install sound dampening tiles, removable insulation pads, blankets, and lagging systems
• Measure, cut, fit, and secure insulation materials including rubber, kalo, fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate, and foam-based products
• Apply vapor barriers, jacketing, banding, pins, adhesives, and sealants according to specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and technical specifications
• Perform work in confined spaces, at heights, and in active shipyard environments

Schedule

• 6am-1:30pm Monday-Friday
• Must be flexible to work OT and weekends as needed

Pay

• $24-25/hour based on experience
