Job summary

Omega Marine Refrigeration LLC in Norfolk, VA is seeking a skilled Marine HVAC Mechanic to join our team aboard commercial and military vessels. This hands-on role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing climate control systems in challenging marine environments.

The ideal candidate has proven HVAC mechanic experience, EPA 608 certification, and the ability to work in confined spaces and during variable conditions.

Qualifications

• EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification is required.
• Proven experience as an HVAC Mechanic, preferably in marine or shipboard environments.
• Familiarity with marine HVAC systems, chilled water systems, and marine refrigeration units.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions aboard vessels.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check for shipyard access.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems aboard commercial and military marine vessels.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in marine HVAC systems.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on shipboard climate control and cooling equipment.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints for marine systems.
• Ensure all work meets maritime safety standards and regulatory compliance, VSRA, OSHA.
• Coordinate with vessel crew, project managers, and other trades to complete jobs on schedule.
• Document service reports, parts usage, and maintenance logs accurately.
