Job summary

Saronic Technologies in Virginia is seeking a skilled pipefitter/welder to cut, fit, and assemble pipe systems per blueprints on shipyard projects, with the ability to work aloft and in confined spaces.

You will use SMAW, MIG, FCAW, oxy-acetylene, and various hand/power tools to fabricate and install foundations, valves, and piping, collaborating with welders, fitters, electricians, and other trades in a fast-paced vessel construction environment.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints and sketches to understand project specs.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with attention to detail.
• Plan pipe system layout per specifications and install per drawings.
• Use rigging equipment and work aloft in confined spaces.
• Perform SMAW, MIG, FCAW welding and multi-pass welding as needed.
• Fabricate components with hand and power tools; cut/bevel pipes.
• Inspect installed systems and perform layout, testing, and repair.

Responsibilities

• Cutting, grinding, and assembling metal structural parts per drawings.
• Tack welding foundations and securing frames for assembly.
• Apply SMAW/MIG/FCAW processes for tack welds.
• Operate oxy-acetylene torch when required.
• Fabricate components using various hand and power tools.
• Use pipe cutting/beveling machines to prepare lengths.
• Align parts with jacks, turnbuckles, and hoists.
• Inspect daily equipment and maintain safe work area.
