Qualifications

• Firewatch certification and Confined Space Entry training mandatory.
• Ability to climb vertical ladders and stand for long periods.
• Willing to travel to various sites, including potential CONUS/OCONUS engagements.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor hot work continuously to catch sparks, slag, or heat buildup.
• Act as confined space attendant and log entrants/exits.
• Use gas detectors to monitor oxygen and toxic/flammable gases before and during entry.
• Stand by with fire extinguishers or hoses to suppress small fires.
• Maintain radio/hand-signal communications with deck safety supervisor.
• Initiate shipboard alarm and evacuation protocols if hazards occur.
• Remain on site for at least 30 minutes after hot work to ensure no smoldering.
