We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in maritime, crane, hydraulics or controls experience to join our team in a hybrid role. This position combines office-based engineering work with pier-side and offshore activities, including barge operations and sea trials. This is a contract to hire opportunity in Hanover, Maryland.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage interdisciplinary design teams, providing technical guidance to engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Apply advanced engineering principles to the design, analysis, integration, and testing of complex mechanical and ocean-deployed systems.
- Develop and review technical products, test procedures, and documentation to meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, integration, and test teams to ensure design feasibility and quality.
- Support bid and proposal efforts with technical approaches, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Travel domestically and internationally, including pier-side and offshore operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Ocean Engineering (advanced degree preferred).
- 5–10 years of practical engineering experience; 2+ years leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in industrial automation and controls: hydraulics, pneumatics, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with maritime port operations, cranes, cargo handling, and shipboard equipment.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., SolidWorks, MATLAB) and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Department of Defense Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
- Strong technical judgment, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Hybrid schedule: ~50% office, ~50% pier-side/offshore, including one-week sea trials.
- Typical work hours: 40 hours in office, 50 hours offshore.
