Job summary

Mackay Marine, a global marine electronics service company, seeks several Marine Electronics Technicians for the New Orleans depot in Harahan, LA. Join a team supporting radios, radars, ECDIS, and other equipment onboard commercial ships in a structured, safety-conscious setting.

Under limited supervision you will install, service, and repair equipment, test and troubleshoot, and generate detailed service reports. A strong electronics background and relevant licenses are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of MET/MSE/ET/AT experience in commercial shipping or Navy/Coast Guard.
• Associate degree or equivalent technical training and experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
• Be physically fit; able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, endure weather.

Mackay Marine is currently seeking several experienced Marine Electronics Technicians (MET) with the skills and qualifications outlined below to join our New Orleans depot in Harahan, LA.

Under limited supervision, Marine Electronics Technicians install, service, and repair marine electronic equipment such as radios, radars, sonars, etc. on-board commercial ships. They test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, and antennas as well as loading, updating, and modifying software. METs utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. They also make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments and upon completion, will compose a detailed service report.

• 3+ years of MSE, MET, ET, or AT experience in commercial shipping and/or acquired in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
• Associate degree or equivalent technical training and experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
• Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
