Job summary

Hinckley Yachts is seeking an Electrician for our boat yard in Southwest Harbor, Maine. The role involves installing wiring and equipment for radar, GPS, antennas, motors, pumps, and switches, with testing and troubleshooting to Hinckley quality standards.

Candidate should have vocational/technical training, basic electrical background, and 2+ years in electronics installation. ABYC certification is preferred, and a strong safety mindset is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Installs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for electrical service (radar, GPS, antennas, motors, pumps, switches).
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Wires and connects electrical, electronic and communication systems; tests circuits with voltmeters.

The Hinckley Company, known for building and servicing strong, seaworthy and beautiful yachts, is seeking an Electrician for our boat yard in Southwest Harbor, Maine.

Essential Duties:

  • Installs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for electrical service such as radar, GPS, antennas, motors, pumps, and switches.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Wires and connects electrical, electronic and communication systems, completing circuitry and testing systems using, voltmeters and other electrical testing equipment.
  • Drills holes in bulkhead and cabin to mount panels and fixtures.
  • Has the ability to troubleshoot system problems and provide creative solutions for difficult system installations.
  • Interprets work orders and plans projects to be completed.
  • Develops material lists for project completion.
  • May have client contact requiring customer service communication skills.
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe, clean work area.
  • Understands and performs all work to Hinckley quality standards.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.

Requirements
  • Vocational technical school degree/certification, Boatbuilding, Military Trade or High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED).
  • ABYC Certification Preferred.
  • Knowledge of power and hand tools: drills, saws, drill press, heat gun, soldering iron, multi-meter, wrenches, test equipment for marine electronic equipment.
  • One (1) year basic electrical background, plus 2 years electronics installation and service.
